MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger

MAZON lands college hunger victory -- but we need your help!

For too many college students, food insecurity is a crippling daily reality that results in skipped meals, reduced portions, poor nutrition, and the impossible choice of whether to eat or continue investing in their academic endeavors. Unsurprisingly, all of this impacts student performance, retention, and mental and physical health.

We at MAZON have long urged policymakers to address food insecurity among college students -- we advocated for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that was released in 2019, which notes a shocking 39% of all undergraduates in the country -- almost 7.3 million students -- are at risk of hunger because of low household income. Hundreds of food pantries have been created on college campuses, which signals a need to better address the systemic issue. MAZON has significantly increased the visibility of this growing national problem and encouraged policymakers to include hunger-related provisions in legislation to reauthorize the Higher Education Act. That’s where you come in…

Please join MAZON in urging all Members of Congress to support legislation that helps students better connect to federal nutrition assistance programs. No one -- including college students -- deserves to go hungry.
